The land of milk and honey - houston

The Land Of Milk And Honey is a series that highlights the stories of immigrants and the generations that follow—an assessment of the American Dream.

In the midst of what we all see happening in America now, stylist and travel editor Alexander-Julian wanted to create a dialogue around race, xenophobia, community, the “American Dream,” and its validity and perception as a concept over generations—through the lens of culture and style.

We’re all familiar with the idea of America as “The Promised Land,” but to make sure that holds, it’s crucial that we question who exactly is given access to that promise.

Many thanks to Instagram for supporting this project from the ground up, all the creative minds of the diaspora that this project has allowed me to collaborate with.

Styling by Alexander-Julian. Photography by RIOT MUSE. Hair & Makeup by Oluchi Ebere. Shot partially at Prauper Studios. Talib-Oso family clothing by AMAO, Emmy Kasbit, Kente Gentleman, Onyii & Co., and UKOO Studios.
